Binding XML data to a Form Template for preview the changes on Adobe® LiveCycle® Designer

Now you would like to test your changes, but no data is shown on preview. Connecting the XML data of a document will help you in this task.

Data is populated in forms with the information from the XML file of the respective BO.

Let’s use a Customer Invoice for example. In e.g. released Invoice, on the Output tab you can find the XML file, find the respective data in XML and follow the connection tree.

Then in in ALD, connect the downloaded XML:

  1. In Tab File
  2. Form Properties…
  3. Preview
  4. “Data File” field, find the downloaded XML.

So, for example the External ID binding, follow the below example:

  1. In Object > Binding palette, click the triangle beside the Data Binding (Open, Save, Submit) box and select a binding
  2. Use “Data Connection”
  3. FormQuote > ExternalID > #data

You will see a binding like this:$.FormQuote.ExternalID

You can find more details in ALD > Help, search for > Binding the data to fields and table cells.

Kind Regards,

Vandré

      hello wandre

How do you create an XML file?
Also, is your ALD version Adobe LiveCycle Designer 11?
In my project, I want to realize the function to output the invoice to the form by using SAP Adobe by forms, but it is very helpful if you do not understand the image of development and give concrete examples and procedures.

      Hello kis_ bu,

Is not possible to create a XML, you can take it from Customer Invoice "Output History" tab, or in case this tab is not available you can request it via an incident. Or use the standard XML that is downloaded with form template zip file from Form Template Management view.

Current version Adobe LiveCycle Designer 11 available on download center.
