Enhancement of Default Branching field to Unanswered Branch to field in C/4 Sales – Survey
From 1902 release onwards the survey design time field of Default Branching has been enhanced and the field has been renamed to Unanswered Branch to. This field can be found within the detail view of the questions in a survey. Kindly note the change in the behavior.
New behavior with Unanswered branch to value
When a value is maintained for the Unanswered branch to field then the survey navigates to the question mentioned if the question/answer is skipped. If the value is not maintained, then the survey navigates to the next question. Please note that the value maintained against an answer option takes a precedence over here.
Example -1
Branching condition | Target Branching |
Question 1: Is the Product Available | Unanswered Branch to – Question 3 |
1. Answer Option 1 – Yes | Question – 4 |
2. Answer Option 2 – No |
In the above example if the user selects the answer – Yes then the survey navigates to question 4 but if the user selects and answer – No then the survey navigates to the next question, which is question 2
However, if the user does skip the question then the survey navigates to Question 3. If the Unanswered Branch to is not maintained, then the survey navigates to the next question i.e. question 2
This behavior is now consistent across all the clients
Previous behavior with Default Branching field in RUI client
When a value is maintained for the Default Branching field then the survey navigates to the question mentioned, if an answer option is selected which does not have a branching target. If the value is not maintained, then the survey navigates to the next question in the sequence.
Example – 2
Branching condition | Target Branching |
Question 1: Is the Product Available | Default Branching – Question 3 |
1. Answer Option 1 – Yes | Question – 4 |
2. Answer Option 2 – No |
In the above example if the user selects the answer – Yes then the survey navigates to question 4 but if the user selects the answer – No then the survey navigates to the Default branching value, which is Question 3 and if the Default branching value is not maintained then it navigates to the next question.
However, if the user skips the question then the survey navigates to the next question, which is Question 2
