You’ve probably already heard about ABAP Platform as a Service or PaaS or to give it it’s official name the SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment?
But have you seen it hands-on?
If you were lucky enough to attend TechEd 2018 there was a hands-on mission but going forward you’ll need access to an enterprise account as unfortunately the ABAP Environment is not yet available with the SAP Cloud Platform free trial.
In case you’re unfamiliar with the SAP HANA Academy, we’re a team that publish hands-on tutorial videos on all sorts of SAP-related technologies to our YouTube channel. Don’t be fooled by the team name – we’re not only here to spread technical knowledge for HANA – although that’s a large part of what we do!
Anyway, we’ve just created a new tutorial series on SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment which you can access here: SAP HANA Academy ABAP Environment Playlist
Inspired by the TechEd 2018 App Space mission we’ve published six related video tutorials which take you through key aspects of the ABAP environment including creating an instance, setting up developer tools, building applications, creating custom database tables, publishing an OData service, and building a Fiori UI.
So whether you’ve already got access and want to get going or you’re simply interested in seeing exactly how to work with ABAP in the cloud these videos will hopefully provide some insight.
You can access the tutorials directly as follows:
- Provision Instance
- Configure Developer Tools
- Create Application
- Create OData Service
- Create Fiori UI
- Create Database Table
All of the sample code used in the video tutorials is posted to our GitHub repository.
If you’re new to SAP Cloud Platform itself then you might also want to check out our onboarding video tutorial series which should hopefully get you up to speed pretty quickly.
The SAP HANA Academy provides free online video tutorials for the developers, consultants, partners and customers of SAP HANA.
Topics range from practical how-to instructions on administration, data loading and modeling, and integration with other SAP solutions, to more conceptual projects to help build out new solutions using mobile applications or predictive analysis.
