Posting date. Usually, you don’t even have to think about it when creating a document. It is already there - displayed by default as the current date. Most of the time it’s exactly what you need, but still there are cases in which you have to change it. When entering orders for next month, when receiving invoices from vendors by mail, etc. As posting date is highly significant for reports you may want to set policy for adding documents with posting date different from current date.
SAP Business One enables you to decide whether to block creation of documents with earlier posting date, and whether to allow adding documents with future posting date:
By default, both options are not selected, so adding documents with earlier posting date is available, while creating documents with future posting date is not allowed.
These settings are also available per document type, in Document Settings > Per Document tab.
