SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS 08: Business Process Operations

This SPS 08 is GR8 blog will focus on Business Process Operations. I will provide an overview of the most important improvements in SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS 08 for business process improvement and data consistency management.

Automatic Pattern Analysis

In business process improvement, you can now use automatic pattern analysis to detect characteristic patterns in the data to be analyzed. This is great news for less-experienced users as it can help them to have a quick start in the analysis process. The results of the automatic pattern analysis are based on the selection made in the “Business Process Analytics” screen. The results are displayed according to the number of dimensions, which denote the number of combined characteristics (see screenshot below).

Usage Analysis

With SPS 08, a revised usage analysis has been introduced in business process improvement. Charts and tables for visualization have been added to grant a quick and simple overview of the use of key figures, dependency diagrams, and dashboards. Using the option “User Calls”, you can check how often certain users called dashboards, SAP Business Process Analytics, dependency diagrams, and progress management boards. Select “summary – graphic” (see screenshot below) and “summary – tables” to display the number of calls per day separated by application, user, and key figure. “monids rarely used” can be used to check how often the data of a specific Monitoring ID was displayed.

Tolerances for Inconsistencies in Cross-Database Comparison

As of SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS 08, you can enable tolerances in cross-database comparison to avoid inconsistencies whenever they are not needed (for example with rounding differences). All you have to do is go to the “Data Model for Comparison” tray, check “Tolerance allowed”, and enter a tolerance in the new tray.

Automatic Transport for Group Types

In cross-database comparison, users don’t need to manually add a customized group type to a transport request any longer. With SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS 08, group type definitions are automatically added to a transport request, which is yet another contribution to safety and simplicity.
