Las Vegas + Barcelona + Bangalore - That’s 21,676 miles traveled total in the past two months to attend all three #SAPTechEd events this year...

Looking back on them all, each one highlighted different focus areas, I remain hugely impressed and humbled by the level of knowledge, networking and huge amount of innovations on show at all events. From dedicated customer sessions, mentor feedback rounds, analyst and press discussions to the new “content journey” approach and numerous lectures this year’s events provided me with a lot of inspiration and food for thought. Thanks again to all those behind the scenes who managed and prepared these events over the 3 locations…. Great job.

Turning now specifically to S/4HANA cloud, I wanted to share a couple of highlights from the sessions I presented at all 3 events - Experience Intelligent ERP with SAP S/4HANA Cloud. During this session, I introduced our Intelligent ERP strategy highlighting the business value of intelligence in terms of creating next generation business processes and then further breaking this down into the various technologies utilized to deliver this intelligence in S/4HANA Cloud from Machine learning to RPA and predictive analytics. In addition I also shot a short video on the topic of the Intelligent Enterprise Suite and where S/4HANA Cloud aligns to the strategy, you can see this here

Following on from this I also reviewed how S/4HANA can co-exist in existing landscapes by defining our integration and open API approach not only to other SAP cloud solutions such as Success Factors or Ariba, but also to on premise solutions or 3rdparty application. Continuing the theme of openness, I also stressed the importance of a solid PaaS strategy and approach to enable and support extensibility options when required for partner or customer-built applications. The S/4HANA Cloud SDK plays a vital role here to reduce the efforts required to develops apps by providing developer efficiency, quality standards and simple integration services to the SAP Cloud Platform. On this topic, I took part in another onsite video where we discuss this topic in more detail:

but take a look back at one of my live interview sessions from Bangalore - All about how cloud ERP is growing in the APJ region:

Closing out the session, I talked about how to implement S/4HANA cloud via the SAP Activate and a fit to standard approach. I also gave a sneak peek to the Cloud Implementation Portal. This is a new portal that allows self-guided and content-driven implementation of SAP S/4HANA Cloud based on SAP Activate. With this new portal you have the ability to manage implementation tasks that are automatically generated and adapted to customer scope. Another huge benefit are the convenient visualization of business models and related process descriptions that supports the Fit-to-Standard workshops.

With the implementation portal for S/4HANA cloud being released in Q1 2019, I am very confident we will see even fast cloud ERP implantations next year.

Thanks to all those who attended the sessions in all three locations, it was a pleasure to either meet you or to reconnect with you again. You can find links to all the S/4HANA Cloud recordings from TechEd as well as where to go for more information.
