The European Utility Week 2018 is now over and therefore I want to take the chance to take a look back at these 3 special days in Vienna.

Why special? Besides the fact that we had a great framework to get together with our customers, partners & colleagues, it was my first ever appearance at an EUW event. The expectations and excitement level were quite high before the event, as SAP was Platinum Sponsor for the first time.

The sponsorship gave us the opportunity to be part of the all-female executive opening keynote track on day 2. Our Global Partner Manager, Barbara Cuitino, held a keynote on “Innovation at Scale to Foster Energy Transition” and was afterward part of the panel discussion led by Frauke Thies, Executive Director of smartEn.

But this wasn’t the only speaking session that we had. Stefan Wolf, Head of IBU Utilities, spoke at the summit about how SAP enables the intelligent Utility, Miguel Gaspar Silva was part of a panel discussion on enabling technologies and Gero Bieser did a HUB session on “The Internet of Things enables Advanced Maintenance Strategies”.

On top of that, you can also watch the interview directly from the EUW18 with Stefan Wolf and Miguel Gaspar Silva about how the consumer is shaping the future energy landscape.

The major part of the EUW is, of course, the exhibition, in which over 600 exhibitors represented their company, and so did we. And we came not alone.

With us, we brought 4 co-exhibiting partners: Cronos, Natuvion, Prologa and Smart Energy Water. Again, a huge thank you to the representatives of our partners who came to Vienna and support us at our booth with their expertise. This thank you also belongs to OSIsoft and Wipro, who also joined us at the booth.

Another big part of our booth was our Microforum, in which we and our partners delivered 30 sessions over the 3 days. We presented topics like the SAP for Utilites roadmap, Cloud for Energy, Customer Experience, Data Hub and SAP Leonardo.

Anything I forgot? Yes! The Business Women Network was also part of our agenda again.

On day 2 we invited to our booth for this event, which was organized by my colleagues Florence Hanemann. It started with a Q&A session between the audience, Florence and Barbara Cuitino and ended in a long get together. We were happy to see that some participants of the all-female keynote track in the morning joined us for this network.

All in all, it was a great event, in which we could meet our customers and partners in person. It’s always refreshing to have the opportunity with this kind of events to meet face to face.

And for me? It was a pleasure to be in Vienna and be part of our SAP team there. I enjoyed every bit of it and I am looking forward to the next event!

If you are interested in any topic I mentioned, want to know more of our presence in Vienna or our future events? Don’t hesitate to contact me!
