What are the different versions of SAP Web IDE?
There are currently three main versions of SAP Web IDE.
SAP Web IDE – in SAP Cloud Platform
- Available on SAP Cloud Platform (Neo)
- Also available as a downloadable personal edition
SAP Web IDE Full Stack – in SAP Cloud Platform
- Available on SAP Cloud Platform (Neo)
SAP Web IDE for SAP HANA
- Available with SAP HANA
- Also included with the downloadable SAP HANA Express Edition
SAP Web IDE – in SAP Cloud Platform
This is the SAP Web IDE available in SAP Cloud Platform Neo environment. Main use case of SAP Cloud Platform, Web IDE is to create or extend SAPUI5 or Fiori apps that
- Consume existing cloud or on-premise OData services
- Will be deployed to SAP Cloud Platform Neo environment or to an on-premise SAPUI5 ABAP repository
Since SAP Web IDE runs on SAP Cloud Platform, it needs no installation and allows you to easily leverage other services that run on the platform – such as SAP Fiori Cloud apps, Git version control, mobile services, IoT services, and more.
Personal edition of SAP Web IDE
To work offline, you can URL_download and install_https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/#sapui5_URL the personal edition of the SAP Cloud Platform, Web IDE. The complementary personal edition IDE can be installed on a personal workstation for offline development by a single developer.
SAP Web IDE Full Stack – in SAP Cloud Platform
This is the recommended version of SAP Web IDE and is available in SAP Cloud Platform Neo environment.
Main use cases are to create SAP full-stack apps, SaaS apps and extend SAP S/4HANA apps that
- Consume existing cloud or on-premise OData services
- Will be deployed to SAP Cloud Platform, Neo and Cloud Foundry environments, or to an on-premise SAPUI5 ABAP repository
SAP Web IDE for SAP HANA
This is the SAP Web IDE available in SAP HANA on-premise. The main use-case is to develop native applications for SAP HANA. This web ide can be used to develop and test UI5/Fiori apps, business logic and OData services with Node.js, XSJS and Java, as well as SAP HANA code and data models. All these parts of a complete business application can then be assembled into an archive package for deployment to a productive SAP HANA platform.

SAP Web IDE will be no longer available after Dec 31, 2018 so SAP recommends all our developers to move to SAP Web IDE full-stack.

Hi,
The “classic” SAP Web IDE will no longer be available as of December, 31 2018 so the Full-Stack version should be used for any kind of development. The only exception is if you want or have to use a local (i.e on premise) version, then you should use the Personal Edition or the for SAP HANA version.

I think, we can not use Web IDE for SAP HANA for Fiori extension.
If i look at

this URL, page 5, SAP UI5/ Fiori has been grayed out in WEB ide for SAP HANA. But in your blog you did not gray out. So i am little confuse. Should i trust official FAQ?
