Hello All,

In this blog, would like to explain how to build your own SAP Fiori Launchpad (FLP) in the SAP Cloud Platform (SCP) portal.

Would explain this as two steps

Part1: Building the SAP Fiori Launchpad sites in the SAP Cloud Platform Portal

Part2: Transporting SAP Cloud Platform Portal Launchpad sites and applications

SAP Cloud Platform Portal

  • SAP Cloud Platform (CP) Portal enables us  to create and publish SAP Fiori launchpad (FLP) or freestyle business sites that serve as a central access point to applications, reports, web content, videos, and more.

  • The Portal offers two types of sites, one is freestyle sites and other one is launchpad sites.

  • we can also create a hybrid site by embedding an SAP Fiori launchpad page as an entry point for SAP Fiori apps together with other pages in a freestyle site.

What is a launchpad site?

An SAP Fiori launchpad site is one of the site templates offered by SAP Cloud Platform Portal. To create a new launchpad site, access the Portal and create your site in the Site Directory. Once you have a launchpad site, you can customize it from the SAP Fiori launchpad configuration cockpit.

What is the SAP Fiori launchpad configuration cockpit?

The SAP Fiori launchpad configuration cockpit is a browser-based tool used by administrators to create new, and maintain existing, content for SAP Fiori launchpads

Part1: Building the SAP Fiori Launchpad sites in the SAP Cloud Platform Portal

Log on to SAP Cloud Platform Cockpit and navigate to your sub account

https://account.eu3.hana.ondemand.com/cockpit

Go to Services and click on Portal (search for Portal)

Click on portal and click on "Goto Service"

in the new browser window, cloud platform portal home page will be opened

Click on "Create New Site"

A pop up will be opened to create a new site,

Enter the site name, Select the template "SAP Fiori Launchpad", then click on create

then Fiori Configuration Cockpit will open in new browser window.

Click on the Apps under "Content Management" left side

Click on the + symbol to add the new app

Provide the required details. App ID, App Title, Semantic Object and Actions, then Save

once app is saved, click on the Visualization to add the properties of the tile ( Device support settings etc)

Click on the "Catalog" tab to create new catalog (or use existing catalog) and add the app to the catalog.

Click on the "Group" tab to create new Group or add the app to the existing group

Create the role and add the the Catalog / Group created earlier for the apps according to your requirement.

Once we have created the app and its respective Catalog, Group and Role, we need to publish the site.

Goto "Setting" tab left side, To check the status of the site (Offline/Published/Modified), system setting, end-user settings.

Please note, if you made any changes to apps in the site directory, It will not effective to end users until you publish the site.

When you made the change, it is always best practice to "Clear HTML application cache and Publish the site" . please see that option below screen shot

Click on the URL as shown in site setting, It will launch the the Fiori Launchpad.
