On October 17th, a panel of SAP professionals visited the University of Illinois Chicago campus to share career insights with a group of about 20 students interested in the information technology field. The students represented a range of different disciplines at UIC and the event featured structured panelist comments along with plenty of time for individual conversations. The format allowed each attendee to explore areas of specific interest with the panel. This event was co-sponsored by UIC with our SAP Business Women’s Network and several additional SAP professionals joined the session to participate in the discussion. The Business Women’s Network (BWN) is an employee-driven network that provides opportunities for women and men at SAP to share their professional insight, support other women, and influence SAP on gender diversity topics.

The panel was moderated by Haley Dominique, Director, Strategic Alliances and Strategic Initiatives in the SAP Midwest Region. She provided conversational questions to the panel regarding career paths, mentoring, industry opportunities and other advice relevant to current college students. The panel’s diverse experiences and responsibilities provided an opportunity to cover a wide range of topics.

Panelists:

  • Manisha Palla, Account Executive and recent Sales Academy graduate

  • Jeffrey Duchardt, Solution Engineer and recent Pre-Sales Academy graduate

  • Grace Buzzard, Senior Director of Quality Assurance at SAP Fieldglass

  • Rich Lewis, Solution Director, Digital Platform

Earlier this year we announced the new SAP Next-Gen Chapter for Digital Supply Chain and Digital Health at UIC which followed the initial announcement of the Next-Gen Hub at UIC in November 2017.

The Next-Gen Hub at UIC serves as a center of knowledge that concentrates expertise and resources in exponential technologies. The center’s programs and research will emphasize advances in information technology, operations and supply chain management, and business data analytics across numerous industries. Through connections with students, startups, thought leaders, researchers, accelerators and venture firms, enterprises will be privy to new concepts, prototype applications and models to reimagine business. UIC Next-Gen will serve as a knowledge and resource gateway for the Chicago region, and will also be the U.S. Midwest hub of a global network of academic and industry researchers promoting the exchange of ideas for disruptive innovation.
