I am pleased to introduce speaker Niko Faradouris who is presenting next week at SAP TechEd Las Vegas on EXP402 Enhancing Your ABAP Development Skills

His speaker profile says he has "14 yrs. of experience in SAP ecosystem and a deep understanding of the ABAP language, SAP's repository and interfaces. He is experienced in upgrade projects, works on tool automation and holds a M.Sc. in Computer Science (USC)"

Q: What is your position and where do you work

I currently work at smartShift Technologies as a Technical Architect. For the past 20+ years my focus was the design and development of tools for automated code remediation. Of these, for the last 10y or so I put my main focus on automated tools for SAP technology adoption projects. Besides R&D related activities, I am actively participating in related projects, which helps me obtain a good understanding of customers' pain points related to technology adoption.

Q: What is the title of your session and when is it?

This year I present "EXP402 – Enhancing Your ABAP Development Skills". The impulse for this session was the impossible situation many customers are in. On one hand SAP expands the reach of its digital core offering new options and on the other hand I see many developers still struggling with legacy code. What we offer as a company is the possibility to modernize their code, enable technology transitions (to Hana, S/4, etc.). Besides that we strive to provide ideas on how to work with SAP tools in order to reduce or get rid of old baggage, urge them to get familiar with the new ways ABAP is simplifying their development and discuss ways of bridging/porting strategic code with/to new technologies.

Q: What do you hope attendees will take away from your session?

• The development landscape changes constantly

• Concerning ABAP development, a lot of modernizations have been introduced in the last years

• A plethora of tools enable efficient development

• Code optimization and refactoring are possible

• Refreshing skills and a shift in the programming paradigm is necessary in order to master the digitalization landscape

Thank you so much to Niko and to all of ASUG SAP TechEd presenters! We can’t wait to learn from you next week
