SAP proudly announces SAP Cloud ALM, the new Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solution for the Intelligent Enterprise!

The “center of gravity” in IT is rapidly moving towards the cloud. This requires re-thinking the approach how Application Lifecycle Management needs to be done in cloud-centric environments.

SAP Cloud ALM

SAP Cloud ALM is a brand-new, cloud-based ALM offering. Designed for the Intelligent Suite, it is tailor-made for cloud-centric customers, manages cloud and hybrid solutions and is planned to support every SAP solution. With SAP Cloud ALM, SAP has re-thought ALM with a cloud mindset and built SAP Cloud ALM on SAP Cloud Platform. SAP Cloud ALM is, once it has been released, ready for immediate consumption and is cost-efficient for SAP cloud customers, as it is part of SAP Enterprise Support or a corresponding SAP Cloud contract.

SAP Cloud ALM will provide a harmonized, content-driven implementation of the cloud-based Intelligent Suite, as well as quality assurance and knowledge transfer for partner-led implementations. SAP Cloud ALM also will cover harmonized, proactive operation of the Intelligent Suite, therefore supporting the entire lifecycle covering build and run.

Market Introduction

The market introduction and functional coverage of SAP Cloud ALM follow a staged approach, new features will be added constantly. Currently, at the time of the product launch, the Implementation Portal for SAP S/4HANA Cloud is the first functional area which will available (release planned together with the next SAP S/4HANA Cloud Release).

Afterwards – following the 3-year product roadmap – Integration Monitoring, Deployment Management and Test Management, Process Monitoring, User Monitoring and Application Monitoring are planned to follow step-by-step.

Also, the coverage of products for which SAP Cloud ALM can be used will grow over time. In the beginning, SAP Cloud ALM is integrated into and optimized for SAP S/4HANA Cloud. Later, the product coverage will be extended to other SAP cloud products and, finally to all SAP products.
SAP Cloud solution customers will get access to SAP Cloud ALM based on their existing contract.

Implementation Portal for SAP S/4HANA Cloud

The first available part of SAP Cloud ALM is the Implementation Portal for SAP S/4HANA Cloud. It provides an environment for implementing cloud solutions with increased guidance, including

  • Quick team onboarding and scoping: To boost efficiency of an SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation project, SAP Cloud ALM provides product and release-specific task lists based on the integrated SAP Activate S/4HANA Cloud implementation roadmap. Together with specified task sequencing and pre-defined roles which easily can be assigned to team members, this ensures that the project team can efficiently handle the implementation following standardized best-practice guidelines.

  • Supporting fit-to-standard implementation approach: SAP Cloud ALM fully supports the SAP S/4HANA cloud implementation methodology by providing all the tools required for fit-to-standard workshops, which give customers at the outset of the project a clear view of the steps required for successful deployment in the cloud. This is based on the SAP Best Practice content for S/4HANA cloud.

  • Configure SAP S/4HANA Cloud and track project progress: The implementation Portal guides the customer through the implementation process and tracks project progress automatically.
All of this is seamlessly integrated into SAP S/4HANA Cloud to ensure a consistent and productive working experience.
