SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment live at SAP TechEd Las Vegas 2018

Hi folks,

I know that many of you are currently building their agendas for SAP TechEd Las Vegas which is approaching rather quickly. So I would like to provide you with some guidance on the session catalog and other activities we plan for Las Vegas in October.

First, you should be familiar with this year’s concept of Learning Journeys.

Special thanks to Stefan Götting who has really worked hard with the teams to get these journeys out in a graphical layout.

We have been waiting for years for an easy way to better understand the SAP TechEd content with its dependencies and now we finally have it.

You find the journeys in all detail on the SAP TechEd homepage, but to save time here are direct links to ABAP and related SAP S/4HANA journeys:

CNA3 – Extend a Hybrid SAP Solution Landscape
(here you find topics such as in-app extensibility, see CNA208 and CNA367)

CNA4 – Get to SAP S/4HANA
(here you find topics such as custom code transformation, see CNA302 and CNA364)

CNA6 – Move your ABAP skills to the Cloud and SAP HANA
(here you find all the core ABAP sessions including SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment)

If you are curious to see what happened over the last year and how SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment will look like, don’t miss the following sessions:

Product Overview of SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment

A developer’s view of SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment

We also offer a 2 h hands-on session Getting started with SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment and a mini codejam Getting started with SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment

In addition to the sessions we will offer access to a variety of tutorials on SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment at SAP TechEd App Space which is an area on the show floor where you can testdrive a live ABAP system on SAP Cloud Platform.

We will also have a booth at the show floor to answer your sessions onsite. Our marketing colleagues organized this, but asked us to be present there as well. And we definitely will.

Now, you might think the ABAP team at SAP has gone mad with all that cloud stuff.

And I must agree: these are exciting times.

But we also cover all the other aspects of the ABAP universe
(including on-premise and deployment agnostic content) such as

Modern ABAP and SQL with Eclipse

Big picture of ABAP RESTful programming model

A Technical Deep Dive into the ABAP RESTfulProgramming Model
(both sessions on the program model are presented in direct sequence)

Several hands-on sessions, mini code jams and lectures cover topics such as

Fiori List programming,

Transactional development,

Optimizing ABAP for HANA,

Automated testing,

Trouble shooting and

Channels, daemons and MQTT.

And last but not least a lecture on ABAP Strategy and related roadmap sessions
(see the Journey CNA6 for more details).

Be sure to study the abstracts in detail so that expectations can be met.

See you onsite in Las Vegas!

      Hi Karl,

thanks for the update. Is there also a possibility to bring enhancement ideas to the abap-platform also.

The idea-place do not have a category for it and just publishing a blog for it, seems not to be way people prefer.

      Hi Florian,

yes, this is a very good idea. We had a recent discussion with a group of SAP Mentors who pointed us into the same direction. So we will definitely come back with a channel on idea-place. We just need to set it up.

      Regards,

      Karl

      Hello Karl,

I was in the Thursday CNA120-ABAP Strategy Lecture.  You were very efficient in the abridged version of the lecture! I didn't get the chance to ask you a question.  Our team wants to be proactive regarding Eclipse and it's integration into the SAP technical landscape.  What version of eclipse should we use for this release to prepare us for S/4 HANA (on-premise/cloud)?

      Sincerely,

      AJ Jones
