This blog talks about few issues that were encountered with respect to SAP crystal reports’ behavior post upgrade and its resolution/fix.

Upgrade platform


SAP Crystal Reports 2011 (Business Objects 4.0 SP9) to SAP Crystal Reports 2016 (Business Objects 4.2 SP4) in Windows 2008 R2 servers (In-place Upgrade)




Column misalignment


Description

Observed column shifting in report. Refer the below screenshot.

Solution Provided

SAP private fix implemented.

Steps followed:

  • Stop SIA

  • Copy crxf_xls.dll file (which was received from SAP) to the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86

  • Start SIA






Schedule not working for Essbase reports


Description

Crystal Report Schedule Job getting failed after upgrade to 4.2 SP4.Noticed that this error is appearing in the crystal report schedule which is based on Essbase database and other DB based schedules (Oracle, Teradata and Sybase) are running fine.
Issue text

“Object failed to run due to an error while processing on the Job Server“.
Solution Provided

SAP private fix implemented by upgrade team.

  • Stop SIA

  • Copy the files (Which was received from SAP):C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86

  • mda_essbase.dll ; mda_sap.dll ; sofa_essbase.dll ; sofa_sap.dll in below directory:

  • Start SIA






Report rendering issue


Description

Report column header changes in CR report after upgrade from BI 4.0 to BI 4.2 SP4. There was a minor alignment change in the column header of the report in CR after server upgrade which also impacted the exported PDF format.

Solution Provided

There is a minor variance in rendering in BI 4.0 and BI 4.2 which resulted in difference.  Difference is negligible and can be ignored.




Printing issue


Description

Labels and Letters aren't printing in correct format. Letter body is printing from the top of page overlapping with the logo.
Solution Provided


  • Login to BI Launchpad

  • Navigate to Preference icon

  • Click on Crystal reports

  • Select PDF one click printing  settings and save & close

  • Logoff and re login






Swap in data values


Description

Swap in row values is observed in Customer related columns and data columns

Solution Provided

There is no sorting order (ascending/descending) in the report and the records difference appear because of row swap and data is getting displayed based on the behavior of crystal versions.  No Data issues observed.
