New Reporting features in (FSV) SAP S/4HANA 1709
Introduction
Purpose of this blog post is to introduce the new multi-dimensional reporting feature available in S/4HANA 1709. With this Tag assignment to existing FSV account groups, we can represent FSV in a different dimension to fulfil the business requirements.
One of the very interesting additional innovations of SAP S/4HANA 1709 financial planning and analytics is that the semantic tagging feature
It is a New infrastructure of Reporting in FSV (Financial Statement Version) area.
Semantic Tag Overview from SAP:
By using this feature, we can see the financial KPIs that are calculated based on nodes in a Financial Statement Version. These Semantic tags are assign to nodes so that the KPIs are calculate differently based on assignment.
To get the above reports, some configuration is required.
Now we will see how to create semantic tag groups, semantic tags, and how to assign to FSV.
Define Semantic Tag Group
SPRO -> Financial Accounting (New) -> General Ledger Accounting (New) -> Master Data -> G/L Accounts -> Semantic Tags for Balance Sheet-/Profit and Loss Structures -> Define Semantic Tag Groups.
You can use existing SAP provided groups or can create required new one to fit your requirement.
Define a New Semantic Tag
SPRO -> Financial Accounting (New) -> General Ledger Accounting (New) -> Master Data -> G/L Accounts -> Semantic Tags for Balance Sheet-/Profit and Loss Structures -> Define Semantic Tags for Balance Sheet-/Profit and Loss Structures.
Assign Semantic Tags to a Financial Statement Version (FSV)
SPRO -> Financial Accounting (New) -> General Ledger Accounting (New) -> Master Data -> G/L Accounts -> Semantic Tags for Balance Sheet-/Profit and Loss Structures -> Assign Semantic Tags to Balance Sheet-/Profit and Loss Structures.
Here we can choose whether to assign the semantic tag to the Financial Statement Item, G/L Account, or Functional Area.
Another option is assigning semantic tags in Fiori App to FSV:
Select the Assign Semantic Tags to FSV app in Fiori.
Click on New Entries and choose whether to assign the semantic tag to the Financial Statement Item, G/L Account, or Functional Area.
Give the ID to which you want to assign the semantic tag and the semantic tag ID.
Save the changes.
Now we have seen the new multi-dimensional FSV report and required configuration to incorporate the same in system.
I hope this would be an add-on to your knowledge. Looking forward for your feedback.

Hi Sreekanth,
Good functionality but I had some problems understanding what it really does.
Coudl you please provide an example of 2 Balance Sheet Statement (F.01 or S_ALR_….) with 2 balance semantic tags ? The PPT image you copy was not clear for me.
Kind Regards
Hi Gustavo Vazquez,
For example the new cash flow statement report (indirect method) can support multi dimension drill down, e.g. to G/L account, cost center, profit center, fixed asset transaction type, etc. Drill down dimension can be displayed in flat list or in a hierarchical way (e.g. G/L account shown in FSV). In addition, as the report is also based on semantic tag infrastructure, the user can change the report figures by changing FSV or semantic tag assignment to FSV. The report format and formula can also be changed with key user tools – custom analytical query. Here is a drill down example to a G/L Account in FSV style.
Hi Sreekanth,
This is actually a very good explanation about this functionality, especially for the free cash flow that is always tricky to implement.
Do you know if there is any special license to use this? or an S/4 HANA Finance, cash management is enough?
