New openSAP Course: Building Portal Sites on SAP Cloud Platform, Edition 2018

The SAP Portal product management team would like to invite you to register for the 2018 edition of the openSAP course Building Portal Sites on SAP Cloud Platform. The course content was developed by the following team members: Thomas Hensel, Ido Shemesh, Ornulf Kittelsen, Iris Sasson and Carola Steinmaier. As with all openSAP courses, you can interact with our experts and your community of learners on our discussion forums.

I suppose that meanwhile you might be familiar with SAP Cloud Platform Portal providing an easy way for creating appealing business sites to engage with customers, partners and employees. If you need more information see this page.

In this new openSAP course our Portal experts will cover all the essentials of building engaging business sites based on SAP Cloud Platform Portal. The course content covers topics such as why do we need a Portal, how to build a Portal site following the SAP Fiori design or your own freestyle design. We will also introduce you to advanced topics such as platform administration, establishing role-based access and more.

What’s new in the 2018 edition (there was already a course in 2017)? As the portal is evolving quickly, we revised the content to reflect numerous functional enhancements for building launchpad and freestyle sites, in particular the improved capabilities for editing web content. We also added information about integrating applications and specifically for integrating content from SAP Enterprise Portal. And of course, we also updated the exercises.

With this five-week course, you will have the opportunity to build portal sites through weekly hands-on exercises. You’ll start building your first SAP Fiori launchpad site, which is recommended for application, process centric scenarios such as a central employee self-services launchpad. See here an example of a SAP Fiori launchpad side:

You will also learn how to leverage pre-packaged business content and SAP Fiori applications.
Then, you’ll learn how to create freestyle sites with the chance to build widgets, bring in pre-defined content, and develop your own content. You will also learn how to brand your site, include any translations you might need, and enable mobile capabilities.

We have also added to the course learning material on how to migrate or integrate content coming from existing on-premise SAP Enterprise Portal.

To make it easy for you to get to grips with all this, we provide you with an exercise each week that will guide you through the process of building a site. You can practice everything you’ve learned live in our free trial system.

Last not least you will also learn about managing your landscape with topics such as authentication, accounts and architecture.

Building Portal Sites on SAP Cloud Platform is aimed at IT professionals, Solution consultants, Portal administrators, User experience experts, and SAP Enterprise Portal administrators.

The course will start on September 11 and enrollment is already open since some time!  You can enroll on the course details page.

As with all openSAP courses, all you need to register is a valid email address and all learning content is provided free of charge. To earn a free Record of Achievement, you’ll need to submit weekly assignments and a final exam prior to their respective deadlines. You can find more information on our course details page linked above.

We hope to see you soon as an openSAP course participant!
