Connect your SAP Data Hub to the SAP Cloud Platform
To connect my SAP Data Hub to the SAP Cloud Platform I leverage my SAP Cloud Connector to Configure a Service Channel for a HANA Database:
Then I create a New System Type SAP HANA in my SAP Data Hub:
And a respective New SAP HANA SQL Connection:
As a result I can access my Raspberry Pi I2C sensor data:
To for example profile its 280K+ data items in no time:
Frank, Thanks for your entire Data Hub blog series. They're excellent and informative!
Is the Cloud Connector (SCC) required to connect SDH with SCP, or is this just the "optimal" way to connect SDH with SCP?
I was just trying to connect my SCP trial (Neo) HANA database to my newly created SDH 1.4 trial on GCP (using CAL). It seemed like the only thing that the SDH connection had an issue with during validation was a self-signed certificate in the mix. I could only save the connection, but it doesn't successfully connect to my SCP HANA database.
In my SCP trial account, I don't have anything connected via Cloud Connector, but the "Connectivity" service is enabled and I've established several destinations for other SCP tutorials (OpenWeather, ES5 Gateway, API management, etc.). Perhaps an SCP destination is necessary, or since I've also enabled the SDI DP server on the HANA SCP database, there may be a way to use the SDI connection?
Or, is it as easy in SDH as 1) creating a HANA system and 2) a connection of type SAP HANA SQL and providing the connection URL with the SQL port, SYSTEM user and PW? Although that may still err on the self-signed certificate.
Thanks again for your SDH insight, Frank!

Thank you, Doug.
As far as I know it is currently not possible to connect to a SAP Cloud Platform HANA Tenant Database directly. It seems to requires a Database Tunnel and the SAP Cloud Connector is one way to establish one.
Best regards
Frank
Hi Frank,
Thanks for the blog, very informative.
We have a different scenario where we need to pull data from SAP DATA HUB (data from a table) to SAP SCP instance Any idea how to achieve this.
