Operation Control Center Dashboard of SAP Focused Insights provides a direct access to key metrics stored inside SAP Solution Manager. It’s primarily intended for IT and business experts who need to build quickly detailed views for in depth analysis.
OCC Dashboard is flexible and easy to use, it offers a single web interface to administrate, configure and display your dashboard instances. Dashboard instances and gadgets can be published as a web URL.
Several data providers help to access data sources on different time periods and different resolutions. You can filter and merge various metrics on the same chart while the look and feel can easily be changed with few clicks.
Since the wave 3.1 of Focused insights you can display the content of BEX View in an OCC gadget.
In this example we re-use a standard BEX Query of “Job Management Health Check” to display the top 10 job total durations during the past hours.
Remarks:
From Solution Manager transaction RSRT1, execute standard BEX query 0SM_JSM_H_Q6_S. The corresponding cube (0SM_JSM_H) contains data only if the scenario Job Management Health Check is setup (see above).
The BEX query 0SM_JSM_H_Q6_S contains a mandatory variable (System ID) that you need to select in order to execute.
Once you selected a system, press the button “Executed” to display the table containing the top 10 job instance durations on this system during the past hours.
There are many WYSIWYG operations you can do on this table to select the data and format it as you want, however, explain all capabilities of RSRT1 is out of scope of this post. In our case, we create a table containing the top 10 job total durations, considering all job instances (i.e. adding up all job instance durations).
We remove some columns to keep only: “System ID”, “Jobname”, “Duration”, “No. Jobs”. Remark: at this point, the top 10 is not working anymore.
Since we changed the table content, the condition “Top 10 Runtime Finished” is not relevant anymore; we can just disable it and create a new one in section “Exceptions and Conditions”.
We enter a name for the new condition and select characteristics and proper values as in the screenshot below.
Now, two conditions are assigned to the view, only one is active. Once we transferred the new condition, the table shows the expected data.
We save the BEX View with the top left button. We have finished with the transaction RSRT1, we can move to Focused Insights.
Access Focused Insights launchpad, from the bottom right of the screen, check that you have at least ST-OST 200 Support Pack 1, with Wave 3.1.
Make sure you have installed all OCC data providers (execute program /STDF/INSERT_DATA_PROVIDERS).
Access OCC dashboard and create a new gadget. Select renderer DYNAMIC_TABLE, add a new query and select data provider /STDF/DP_BEX_VIEW.
You should retrieve your BEX View in the list. Remark: you won’t see in the list the views created by other users, however, you will be able to execute them while accessing the dashboard in read mode.
Select the view and save your gadget.
The content of the BEX View is displayed in an OCC table.
