On 21st June, 2018 volunteers from NAAS team renovated Varthur Government School. This is the first time the team got together for CSR painting activity. At the school, a short briefing was given by the Quess volunteers there about the school adopted by them what kind of paint we should put and other instructions. The HM also greeted and appreciated the initiative taken by SAP. We then divided into three groups and picked masks, aprons, gloves, rollers, brushes, and buckets of paint and started painting the outer corridors. We put emulsion on the upper part of all the classrooms and oil paint on the lower part of the classrooms. The outer compound wall was a tough task as we had to clean it take out all the posters stuck on the wall and scrub it before painting it. The children were very excited to meet us, we distributed chocolates and notebooks according to their standard – four line, single line, square book and math book. Once the outer wall was dry, we painted murals with help of the artist. We painted colorful flowers, butterflies and images of children playing. We also painted a tree and put our handprints for its leaves. All this was done in under a few hours thanks to the high energy levels and enthusiasm of the team.

On 27th July, we went to the school again, to distribute bags and stationery set consisting of pencil boxes, pens, pencils, eraser, sharpener and scales. The kids recognized us and welcomed us with opened arms and were very excited to see the new bags and stationery. We distributed bags according to their age – small medium and large bags and stationery to all 356 children. We also distributed the notebooks to the children who weren’t there the last time and the new admissions as well.

It was a very humbling experience for all of us. We would like to thank Hope foundation and Quess for all their support and the SAP CSR team for their making this event possible! ?
