Why do I have to migrate to the new SAP S/4HANA Accrual Engine?

As you may know, the accruals management functionality in SAP S/4HANA continues to grow– as of the 1809 (on-premise) release, the accruals family will welcome its new member, purchase order accruals, which enables us to automatically use purchase orders as accrual objects. This means that our accruals calculation and posting will be nearly effortless.

In order to add this new functionality to the manual accruals functions that we already know, the accrual engine itself had to be substantially enhanced, which is to say, essentially rebuilt.

So what does that mean for those of us already using manual accruals in SAP S/4HANA?

It means that we can also benefit from the improved accrual engine, but we have to migrate our accruals data and some existing Customizing settings over to the new accruals management accrual engine. This is a one-time effort, and once you have your system up and running with the new settings, you’ll be able to continue using your existing accruals objects and make use of the new purchase order accruals functionality.

We’ve put together the following materials to help guide you through the migration process:

And as always, if you have any further questions about this migration process, let us know so we can clarify.

There is the note 2582883 that contains the EKT document as presentation as attachment.

And the other note 2582884 describes the incompatible changes that come along with the (new) S/4HANA Accrual Engine compared to the old Accrual Engine.

Both notes are linked in the above blog entry.
