This blog describes how to create a custom defined report view based on standard SAP report "Campaign Success for Messages" in order to be able to analyze in a productive client e-mail bounces by contact, campaign and bounce reason.

This custom defined report view gives insights to soft and hard bounces occured within the e-mail sending process:
It shows the e-mail address which was approached, the time stamp of the bounce occurence, the bounce reason communicated by the E-Mail Service Provider and the campaign to which the bounce is related.

This blog is relevant for SAP Marketing (Cloud and OnPrem) customers.

This is requested by several SAP Marketing customers through customer office, customer incidents and direct contact with customers.

 

 

High level step:

 

In productive client, app "Analytics and Report Gallery": Create on top of the standard SAP campaign success analytical query a custom analytical query view.

 

 

Detailed steps:

 

App "Analytics and Report Gallery" in productive client


Open standard SAP report "Campaign Success for Messages, Last 3 Month" from the report list:



In the “Filters” area of the following screen, choose "Interaction Type" values 'EMAIL_BOUNCE_HARD' and 'EMAIL_BOUNCE_SOFT':





Furthermore, choose measures "Hard Bounces" and "Soft Bounces":





Press “Go” and drag & drop the dimensions "External Contact ID", "Campaign ID", "Time Stamp" and "Bus. Doc. Stat. Des." to the “ROWS” area:



Save the custom report view you just configured by entering an appropriate name, set “Public” flag and confirm with “OK”:





 

Subsequently, you may save the custom report view as tile in order to have a quick access to it from the Fiori Launchpad:







 

How to interpret the result data of the newly created custom report view - example:




  • E-Mail 'ooto@simulator.amazonses.com' soft bounced firstly on 2nd of December 2017 at 14:43:55 with reference to campaign '2019'.
    The bounce reason communicated by the E-Mail Service Provider is: "ERR - 554 4.4.7 [internal] exceeded max time without delivery".

  • E-Mail 'ooto@simulator.amazonses.com' soft bounced secondly on 9th of December 2017 at 22:15:47 with reference to campaign '1974'.
    The bounce reason communicated by the E-Mail Service Provider is: "ERR - 554 4.4.7 [internal] exceeded max time without delivery".
