Sometimes there is some uncertainty or lack of understanding of our licensing model. As I am responsible for the roll-out of this topic I would like to discuss this in my short blog.


What is the licensing model for this solution?

In accordance with our licensing guidelines, all Professional and Limited users of SAP Business One have to be licensed additionally for the Intercompany integration solution.

Why is it necessary to license the Intercompany integration solution for all users, even if only a few dedicated users perform intercompany activities?

As a fact, all users benefit from the key functions of the Intercompany integration solution in their daily work, such as:

  • Global master data such as items or business partners
  • Replication of global data to other intercompany databases
  • Replication of data such as pricelists, payment terms, and bill of materials
  • Creation of purchase and/or sales documents across partner companies
  • Fulfillment of centralized payments
  • Consolidation of financial entries into a central intercompany database

What is the benefit for the enterprise?

Only this solution extension allows a group of legal entities or subsidiaries to efficiently work together, creating a holistic intercompany environment. Using key features such as globally distributed data, automated intercompany transactions, and consolidated payments means the entire company gains efficiency, leaner processes, and cost savings.

Isn’t the Intercompany integration solution way too expensive?

In fact, there are many ways to address intercompany requirements. The intercompany integration solution for SAP Business One is one of them; certainly, the most comprehensive and convenient option.

As a solution extension offered and supported by SAP, you are guaranteed continuous functional enhancements and optimizations, thereby securing your investment.

For simplicity’s sake, the pricing model is defined as user-based and set at a reasonable price per user. This means that all users in the entire intercompany landscape should be considered as they will all benefit from the solution. Other pricing models have been considered but would be more complex and certainly not simpler! The current price is aligned to the country specific price considerations.
