With the SAP HANA studio no longer in development (SAP Notes 2396214, 24650272073112), the SAP HANA cockpit is now the go-to tool for SAP HANA administration.  The cockpit provides administrators with a wealth of functionality for monitoring, configuring, managing and optimizing SAP HANA -- both on-premise and in the cloud via the SAP Cloud Platform, SAP HANA service. With integrated tools like the SAP HANA database explorer and SQL analyzer, the cockpit has a lot to offer. But how to find out more?

Check out the What's New

For on-premise installations, new Support Packages (SPs) are available on a regular and more frequent basis than the SAP HANA platform. In the cloud, the SAP HANA cockpit and SAP HANA database explorer services are also updated at frequent intervals. The What's New tells you what new and changed features are available:

Open the in-app help

Get help while you use the cockpit by clicking the "?" in the top right of the screen. Most apps in the cockpit have one or more dedicated help topics explaining how to use the app, how to perform specific administration tasks, or what individual fields mean.

Read the SAP HANA cockpit documentation

If you want to read up on a feature or learn how to do something, refer to the documentation. You'll find the complete documentation of the latest cockpit SP at: https://help.sap.com/viewer/p/SAP_HANA_COCKPIT.

Since the features available with the cloud version of the cockpit and database explorer may vary slightly, a cloud version of the documentation is also available:

Read the SAP HANA documentation

The cockpit is the administration tool for SAP HANA. An understanding of SAP HANA features and concepts is often needed to perform administration tasks. That's why you'll find all the cockpit documentation integrated into the central SAP HANA Administration Guide.

But remember: The cockpit (and the cockpit documentation) have a more frequent update schedule than SAP HANA, so if you have a very recent SP, the SAP HANA Administration Guide may not contain all new and updated information.
