Take a Technical Deep Dive with SAP Analytics Cloud API’s
SAP Analytics Cloud being an end-to-end analytics platform has been offering various API’s since last year to provide access to its resources.
For example, using URL API one can display the stories created in SAP Analytics Cloud, further the Rest API’s allows to access various metadata information about different stories along with the possibility to manage them.
Both, URL and REST API, have been published on API Hub and conforms to the OpenAPI specification.
The availability of these API’s provides an opportunity for Partners and Corporate developers to extend the analytical capability of their third-party applications by leveraging rich feature-set of SAP Analytics Cloud ranging from providing Business Intelligence to Integrated Planning to Predictive Insights.
However, a critical piece of the entire puzzle is to ensure secure access to the resources residing in SAP Analytics Cloud. Imagine critical HR Data that can be accessed simply by the means of API. It is simply not done.
SAP Analytics Cloud allows third-party applications to access its services by using the authorization protocol OAuth 2.0. This ensure only the users who are authorized to access the data can request the same by the means of API’s.
