Do You Believe in Magic? Check out the Release Highlights of SAP Leonardo IoT Bridge 1805!

Only a few weeks ago, Gartner positioned SAP as “visionary” (one of only three companies) in their first ever Magic Quadrant for Industrial IoT Platforms. I personally believe that there is nothing magic about this.

I am convinced that this recognition is, rather, the result of a lot of hard work by my colleagues at SAP who relentlessly work on bringing new IoT solutions to market and who are constantly enhancing our existing portfolio in close collaboration with our customers.

While the many big announcements during this week’s SAPPHIRE in Orlando are proof of how fast we are bringing new innovations to our customers that can disrupt entire industries (think SAP Conversational AI or SAP Cloud Platform Blockchain), I wanted to share with you today one of the countless smaller examples that might not always be in the spotlight but that I believe are the foundation of our perception as a “visionary” in the market place.

One of our youngest solutions in the IoT space – SAP Leonardo IoT Bridge, which went GA in August 2017 – just published its fourth release and while the enhancements and new features we added might not sound as mind-blowing as some of the announcements at SAPPHIRE, it is this constant stream of innovation that adds to us being perceived as visionary in this space.

SAP Leonardo IoT Bridge helps customers run their business operations in a digital world by mashing up data from sensors and business applications in a collaborative and persona-centric work environment. What that means for us on the product team is that we are constantly working on finding the best ways to combine existing business processes with all these new sources of sensor data. And our goal is to do this in an intuitive and meaningful way.

In that spirit, let me share some highlights from our latest release, the 1805 release:

Context-Sensitive Collaboration with CoPilot

CoPilot, SAP’s digital assistant for a humanized user experience (think conversational user interface), is now available as an add-on so that customers can work more efficiently by leveraging context-sensitive collaboration and interact with SAP applications in natural language, as if they are talking to another human being.

Easy Prototyping with BUILD

We are constantly expanding our integration with SAP BUILD, a complete set of cloud‑based tools to design and build new prototypes that customers can import into SAP Leonardo IoT Bridge. With our latest release, we now also support object pages and list pages.

Extended ECC and S/4HANA Integration

We now support integration for several new business objects like purchase orders or production orders so end users can perform transactions in the backend without leaving SAP Leonardo IoT Bridge.

Import and Export of Scenarios

Customer can manually download content of a specific scenario and upload it into a target environment or system.

New Real Time Resolution Support

SAP Leonardo IoT Bridge is all about actionable insights for operational users. That is why we gave our configurable resolution support a fresh look and significantly improved the user experience so that customers can get from insight to action in a more efficient way.

Realizing that all this was achieved in a three-month release cycle feels a little magic after all.
