On March 7th, the second edition of SAP Select Brazil took place in São Paulo and our smart shelf solution, developed for Grupo Boticário during our Innoweeks, was showcased in the event!

SAP Select is a global event that gathers an exclusive network of executives to a close and engaging event, with an interactive and connected environment between all participants.

In this year’s edition, one of our Labs solutions was showcased in the event. We had a booth in the event to showcase the Smart Shelf solution, which uses machine learning technology of SAP Leonardo to identify products in real time.

To do the demo, our Product Support colleagues Fabio Varisco and Arthur Braga developed an SAP Leonardo solution that can recognize different products from Boticário. The Smart Shelf receives the products image through a video camera and applies a machine learning algorithm to recognize what is in the shelf. This enables the customer to receive real-time information from their inventory on stores and to have access to accurate information of their retail business, without the manual process of accounting and auditing.

“SAP Select is a C-Level event hosted by SAP where we invite our customers to get inspired by the digital transformation and perceive our company as their innovation partner. Our project with Boticario was the only live solution running in the event, which brought a lot of attention from the audience. The strategy for the demo was to make it speak for itself without having a proper “presenter”. It means that the participants had the freedom to move the products on the shelves, as they would be doing in a real Boticario store, and see the machine learning of SAP Leonardo in action, through the eyes of the cameras that we put embedded in the shelves. This is the result of the collaboration of several colleagues from our Labs which puts us on the edge of what is currently being developed with machine learning globally at SAP” said Matheus Souza.
