Control technology from the cloud – with Use Cases from SAP Leonardo Innovation Services and SAP Digital Studio
The Stuttgart Innovation Days took place for the second time in Q1 2018. Together with seven other exhibitors the event fell under the theme of control technology from the cloud. Among the main topics were innovations in the areas of control technology, Cloud technologies, Smart Services and Machine Learning.
A variety of expert talks, a panel debate as well as a large trade exhibition were presented in the exceptional setting of an old riding arena in the Maritim Hotel Stuttgart.
Within this context, SAP Digital Studio and SAP Leonardo Services Sales introduced two innovative cases Digital Manufacturing Simulation and SAP Blockchain Enabled Supply Chain to an interested specialized audience.
The Digital Manufacturing Simulation is a miniature factory with automated high-bay warehouses, production robots, production machines and automated sorters. The system landscape is based on the SAP Model Company for Connected Manufacturing with SAP S/4HANA and the SAP Manufacturing Execution Suite. The focus is on vertical integration (“Topfloor to Shopfloor”) and the mapping of typical processes of manufacturing companies. The SAP Model Company is a preconfigured service whose system landscape can run its business within hours.
SAP Blockchain Enabled Supply Chain Scenario uses blockchain technology to connect all involved stakeholders of a supply chain in a decentralized network. It enables the paperless, direct and secure exchange of sensitive information and documents such as the Bill of Lading (e.g. freight documents, forwarding transfer slip, CMR or T-paper for customs clearance). The management of the property or “license to sell” along the entire supply chain is verified by means of blockchain and clearly assigned. Among other things, the proof of origin is guaranteed based on the written blocks, which eliminates counterfeiting and unnecessary risks.
