One of the great things about working in a global organization is having the opportunity to speak to colleagues around the world about their Life at SAP. My name is Heather Walker and I recently had the opportunity to speak to a group of women from all careers levels in the Nordics about their careers, and what drives them. One of those women was Frida Bertilsson who joined the SAP Sales Academy in 2017.
“I was born and raised on a farm with my two brothers, a sister and my mom and dad. I love to spend time with friends and family and I am a nature-loving person who loves to go a walk with our dog Hilda. When I graduated from high school I moved to Barcelona and started working in inside sales. Then I decided to explore the world, so I booked a ticket and started traveling in Thailand, USA, NY Zealand, Australia, Bali and Malaysia.
My biggest hobby is snowboarding so I moved to Åre, Sweden’s biggest ski-resort for 6 months. After that I started studding at Linköping’s University. When I am not working, I love to dance “bugg” and sing in a Rock and Pop choir.”
So after all this, how did Frida come to join SAP?
“I heard about SAP when a recruiter contacted via LinkedIn. She told me about the SAP Sales Academy and I decided to apply right after our call.
The Academy was a great opportunity to work in a global environment with 9-month program of ‘education’ in Sweden and California. I have always been passionate about building relationships and meeting new people. I am curious how technology can help companies run better through digital transformation.
During the Academy program, it has been hard to find a balance because of the rotations in Sweden and California. I live in Västerås so I am traveling by train every day and my days are long. Everything is still very new and I have a lot of things to learn. But it’s getting better!
When I graduate from the Sales Academy in summer 2018, I’ll work as an Business Development Specialist in General Business Sales. My responsibilities will be to find new opportunities, build relationship and drive the business from start to end. I’ll help companies with their digital transformation journey!”
I asked Frida how she defines success?
“Success for me is to do a great job and to help customer with their existing challenges. I want to build long-term relationship and always be better and grow within my position. My onboarding at SAP with SAP Sales Academy with 12 weeks’ class-room training in California and shadowing a mentor during my field rotations in Sweden has provided me with great experience and the knowledge to be successful. All the resources I have around me will help me be successful and I believe you learn by doing.”
We also talked about her experience of the SAP culture so far.
“What I like about SAP’s culture is the environment and the resources you have around you. Every day is a challenge and every day is a new day with new opportunities. There is so much potential to grow as a person and learn. SAP has many years’ of experience and is an innovative company who always looking forward and to be a part of that is inspiring.
I have only been here 8 months I have been facing challenges many times, but you have so many people around you who are there to help so there is always someone to ask or people who can tell you how it is.”
And finally, I asked what has been Frida’s best moment so far?
“My best moment at SAP so far is the Academy in California. I learned so much and every day was a challenge, but the best part is all the friends I made from across the whole world and that network will help me through my journey at SAP.
When I joined SAP, I had no experience in Digital Transformation and for me to stand in front of a big group of people and talk about something I don’t know and not even in my native language was a situation I was fearing, but after this education I feel more comfortable doing that.”
