Specified RDBMS is invalid : sap bi platform cms system database (error: inf ) while changing report data source from UNV to UNX

This blog outlines how to resolve error Specified RDBMS is invalid : sap bi platform cms system database (error: inf ) while changing report data source from UNV to UNX

System Update: SAP BI platform updated from version 4.1 SPx to 4.2 SP4 and above.

Scenario: Refer to SAP knowledge base #2432962 for detailed process of automating change of report data source from UNV to UNX. Below are the steps mentioned to resolve an specific error occured while running WebIChangeSource_Worklist document.

Error Message:

  • Specified RDBMS is invalid : sap bi platform cms system database (error: inf )

As per KB 2432962 Download following files:

  • lcmbiar
  • BI42_SAP_WebiChangeSourceDriver

 

Follow below mentioned steps:

  1. Extract SAPWebIChangeSourceDriver.zip
  2. Simple copy files from SAPWebIChangeSourceDriver.zip to Install drive\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer
  • Drivers
  • Sap_wics
  • setup
  1. Restart SIA and wait for SIA to be up and running
  2. Login to Promotion Management and Import lcmbiar
  3. Once biar file is imported. Login to BI Launcpad, Go to BI Admin folder and try to run WebIChangeSource_Worklist document.
  4. You will get following error message
    • Specified RDBMS is invalid : sap bi platform cms system database (error: inf )
  5. Reason for error is missing CMS DB Driver. Follow following steps to install missing driver.
    1. Go to Control Panel -> Programs ->Programs and Features.
    2. Select the base BI platform installation. i.e. SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1Note: DON’T select 4.2 update.
    3. Click on Uninstall/Change.
    4. Click Modify
    5. Select Database Access-> CMS DB Driver to install.
    6. Click Next…and follow steps until installation completes. This process will take around 30mins+
    7. Restart Server.
  1. Once driver is installed you should be able to execute WebIChangeSource_Worklist document.
  2. Continue following three main steps to apply the Mass UNV to UNX change data source. These steps are mentioned in detail on SAP Notes 2432962.
    1. Preparing Universe List: Define mapping information about the universes (UNV) which have been converted to UNX.
    2. Preparing Document List: Define the list of documents where you want to change the data source.
    3. Executing Change: Data Source Using the lists from the previous steps

      Hi All,

       

      Could you please help me on this below issue. While refreshing the audit reports which we downloaded from sap websites BIRA-RTM-423002-UnxSample.lcmbiar and BIRA-RTM-423002-WebISamples.lcmbiar samples files. Imported from the local drive and exported to repository using promotion management tool and got exported successfully. After that i tried to referesh the sample report but getting the below error.

      Error: The following database error occured:(CS)”Specified RDBMS is Invalid: SAP BI platform CMS system databases”. For more information about this error please refer to sap knowledge base article 2054721 on the sap portal (IES 10901)(Error:INF)

      Kindly please help me on this

      Hi There,  The steps above sound like a fix for windows.  Has anyone had to do this fix for UNIX?  We are in the process of upgrading to 4.2 SP6.  The CMS repository reports work fine in Rich Client, but they won’t run in HTML or JAVA mode from the (classic) Launchpad, and give the same error message.  Any ideas?  Thanks
