Google Cloud + SAP CodeJam: This is what you can do if you missed it

This blog post is for those of you who could not attend our initial editions of the Google Cloud + SAP CodeJam.

I’ll begin by summarizing what we’ve been doing so far in Atlanta, Hannover, Munich and New York.

And, if you scroll down, you will find details on how you can request an event in your city as a host or stay tuned for further releases.

Here is what you’ve missed…

Everyone will tell you the future is in the cloud but very few will share how that future becomes the present.

Our main goal is to share knowledge on Cloud development using a hands-on approach (because we think doing is one of the best way of learning).

So we build a cloud-native app! For data, we are using SAP HANA and Google BigQuery.  You get to deploy your own instance of SAP HANA, express edition plus XS Advanced applications in the Google Cloud Platform. We then play with Google App Engine, Google Cloud Functions and Node.js to compare data produced by predictive analytics and geospatial queries against simulated IoT devices.

This has turned out to be a lot of fun:

You can request your own event

I get a lot of “When are you coming to my city?” and the answer is simple: Whenever a request for a CodeJam is approved.

You can make this happen and we won’t charge you for it. All you need to do is request a CodeJam by sending an email as explained in the events page, make a venue available where we can sit, connect our laptops and get some food too:  https://www.sap.com/developer/events.sap-codejam.html#sap-codejam
