Top High Tech Experiences Not to Miss at SAPPHIRE NOW 2018

Natural disasters are often times difficult to handle, pre, during, and post occurrence. But the unpredictability of earthquakes can frequently add an additional layer of devastation as families and loved ones have no time to prepare. This is an all too familiar situation for the people of Japan, as they experience anywhere from 1,313 to 10,680 earthquakes throughout the year. Many can tell their story of enduring countless earthquakes and then being hit by huge tsunami waves minutes later. This constant state of uncertainty is not projected to slow anytime soon. The Japanese national government estimates a 70% chance for a magnitude 7-class earthquake in the Tokyo area by 2042, approximated to impact 30 million residents.

Considering the prediction from the Japanese government and the nation’s shaky past, Hakusan Corporation, a small manufacturing company based out of Tokyo, recognized the opportunity to leverage their knowledge and technology for a deeper purpose—to save more lives in the face of earthquakes.

Using the accelerometer that is already built into iPhones, Hakusan developed a mobile app ,myShindo (formerly iJishin), that not only measures the amount of shakes but also the stability of the building the iPhone is located. By merging big data analytics and monitoring sensors, residents and first responders can now be alerted when a building is unsafe before the next earthquake or aftershocks. myShindo, supported by SAP HANA and SAP Leonardo Digital Innovation System, is helping to make a difference in the world, one insight at a time. The power of this purposeful innovation can be experienced in-person at the Best-Run Theater at SAPPHIRE NOW 2018, happening June 5-7 in Orlando, Florida.

In addition to this immersive experience, there will be an array of High Tech sessions showcasing the business value created by digital transformation. Industry leaders will be sharing tips and best practices from their journey. Check out a few of the highlights below:
