You want to install SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise 16.0 SP03 PL03 (SAP ASE 16.0.03.03) in an SAP Business Suite environment? Or you want to upgrade to SAP ASE 16.0 SP03 PL03 from an earlier SAP ASE release? Then the following information is for you…

Beginning of April 2018, SAP ASE 16.0 SP03 PL03 has been certified for use with SAP NetWeaver and it contains several enhancements and new features.

Here are a few of the key enhancements which you get with PL03:

  • 3-Tier High Availability with SAP Replication Server 16.0
3-Node High Availability and Disaster Recovery solution is now available for SAP ASE customers running SAP ASE 16.0 SP03 PL03 and higher. This solution provides a disaster recovery solution in addition to the high availability solution. If you would like to read more about 3-Tier High Availability with SAP Replication Server 16.0 and how exactly the solution works, then you should read this blog: High Availability + Disaster Recovery (3 Node HADR) with SAP ASE 16.0 SP03.

  • Granular Auditing
With granular auditing, SAP ASE 16.0 SP03 PL03 provides more flexibility in limiting which logins or sessions are audited, especially for previously audited events at global level. For more information, see chapter Granular Auditing.

  • SAP Common Crypto Library Support
SAP ASE now uses the proprietary SAP Common Crypto Library (FIPS 140-2 compliant) as the SSL provider and cryptography library. OpenSSL is no longer supported for encryption and decryption. For more information, see chapter SAP Common Crypto Library Support.

  • In-Memory Row Store
The in-memory row storage (IMRS) cache stores transactionally active data, providing a high-performance storage repository for hot data and extends the table's standard, page-based storage. For more information, see chapter In-Memory Row Store (IMRS).

This is just a brief overview of some of the new features in SAP ASE 16.0 SP03 PL03. If you are looking for more information or want to get all enhancements at a glance, then you should read the following:
