The SAP Transformation Navigator now brings even greater value with the new exciting functionality

This free self-service tool allows you to create personalized product maps and receive guidance on how to best approach your transformation to an intelligent enterprise.

The SAP Transformation Navigator is constantly improving to provide you with the ultimate user experience. The latest update, released in April 2018, makes enhancements to old functionalities and adds some exciting new features.

You can experience the SAP Transformation Navigator live at SAPPHIRE NOW

Before I dive into the latest updates, I'd like to note you can schedule an in person, one-on-one session with an SAP Transformation Navigator expert at SAPPHIRE NOW. My team will be located in the Services and Support campus (SE204) to walk you through the tool, and you can experience the latest enhancements and ask questions as well.

There will be 2 types of sessions available:

  • Digital Transformation Concept Session (30 minutes): Create a sample transformation road map and explore business value, timelines, and integration.

  • Digital Transformation Deep Dive Session (60 minutes): Build your own road map, select the best point in time to start your digital transformation, and create a rock-solid business case.

To book your personal session, email my team, contact your SAP account executive, or view the SAPPHIRE NOW session catalog.

Meet the Time Slider functionality

Now for the newest functionality ...

The introduction of the time-slider has been the year’s most significant update so far. This feature allows you to see how SAP’s product recommendations evolve over time as new innovations arrive. It can be used to find the best time to take advantage of SAP’s new innovations and pursue organizational goals.

Time Slider view on product level

Now, once you have added a product to your product map and selected a deployment method, if applicable, the new Time Slider view will show changes in recommended products per quarter.

Time Slider view on solution capability level

You can also see how recommendations on solution capabilities change over time. Upon adding a complex product to the map, select which capabilities you are currently using in your product, as well as the preferred deployment option. In the screenshot below, you can see how recommendations change for SAP ERP, based on the selected capabilities.

New grouping of products in the line view

To enhance user experience with product maps consisting of multiple products, new sections and a hierarchy was introduced that you can expand/collapse within the product map line view. On the upper level, the products are now clustered per “Products with open decision”, “Products with Transformation Recommendations”, and “Products not requiring Transformation”.

In addition to the enhancements above, the in-tool data has been updated to provide accurate and up-to-date views on SAP’s recommended products. Lastly, the output documents have been updated to reflect the new content and functionality for a better experience.

There will be even more enhancements to the tool's features and functions at the end of May. Stay tuned for another blog where I will walk you through those updates, or learn more in person at SAPPHIRE NOW.
