Where can I find SAP Analytics Cloud content?
You can find the SAP Analytics Cloud content directly in the content library. Go to Browse > Files and click on the content library image.
Be aware, that in order to access the content library, you must have permissions to read and maintain Lifecycle data. The Admin and BI Admin standard application roles contain these permissions.
Now, navigate to Business Content. Business Content includes end-to-end business scenarios which are ready to run with sample data or live data connections.
Every package is a folder that you can import into your system. Click on a folder, to find a description of the content (Overview tab), Publishing Options (Publishing) as well as a list of the technical objects included (Content tab). Also, there are links to related information like the main blog and the content documentation.
How to import SAP Analytics Cloud content?
Importing content into your own system is very easy. First, you should review the Publishing tab and select an option for the Import Overwrite Settings. We recommend the default option which is Import and Update All Content (excluding permissions). If an object selected for import already exists on your system, the object on your system is overwritten and its data is updated. For models, however, the setting of the Privacy flag and the access permissions assigned to roles remain unchanged during the import, meaning the same users will have access to the content as before.
Please read the chapter 3.2 of the content documentation carefully to avoid accidental loss of customer enhancements and data.
If you want to learn more about the other options, check the SAP Analytics Cloud Help chapter.
In the Content tab you will find options to deselect objects or data which is included in some content packages.
Please be careful with deselecting content objects before the import as dependencies between dimensions, models and stories are not taken into account. The consequence might be that a package cannot be imported successfully.
Once you are satisfied with your selection, click Import.
You will be notified once the job is completed. If you want to import more than one package at a time, they will be queued. On the top right corner of the screen, you will receive notifications on the progress. When the package is completed, you can review the import summary by clicking on the notification.
Content is placed into the public folder called SAP_Content (which will be created if it does not exist yet). All users have view rights and the person who downloaded the content package is the owner of the objects, which implies edit rights. The final step in the download process should thus be the setting of sharing and authorizations.
How to re-use SAP Analytics Cloud content?
We advise you to be cautious when importing content, as it will overwrite or otherwise affect any existing objects (Models, Stories, Dimensions, Dashboards etc.) in your system that have the same name. This is especially important for the more comprehensive industry packages, because they usually re-use line-of-business content. Please refer to chapter 3.2 of the SAP Analytics Cloud content documentation to avoid accidental overwriting and data loss.
