Mandatory action for offline usage after 1802 upgrade

Mandatory Action to use Offline Mode in SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer, extended edition apps

The February 2018 release has some exciting changes in our extended edition apps.

After the backend server is upgraded to the 1802 release, certain actions in the 1711 extended app will not work in offline mode.

Changes in mobile framework during the 1802 release requires additional user handling prior to the upgrade.

As a precaution, users continuing to use the old (1711) app with the new (1802) backend after February 17th 2018 will not be able to download any data offline – only data upload will be possible.

Suggested Actions

  1. Users must perform an in-app update in the 1711 extended edition app
    between Feb 9th 2018 and Feb 16th, 2018.

  2. Users must download and upgrade to the 1802 extended edition app as soon as it is available the app store.

After the in-app update is applied, the version should be as follows:

    Android app 1711.5.0 (O52C51)
    iOS app 1711.5.0 (O52C51)
    Windows 8.1 1711.5.1818.10230 (O52C51)
    Windows 10 1802.1.1819.0 (O52C51)
    Windows Phone 1802.1.1820.0 (O52C51)

You can check the version using the following steps: log off from the app; click the Settings cog wheel; check the version mentioned in the About section.
Note that the app also shows a popup with the version information once an in-app update is applied.

It will be an in-app update (the user will be prompted after logging into the app).
The update should be available on your productive tenants starting Feb 9th.
This gives your end-users a week to be able to do this in-app upgrade.

If a user misses the 1711 in-app update and goes directly to 1802 version, what is the best course of action to obtain a working version?

Going to the 1802 version directly is absolutely fine - as long as you do it immediately once the app is available.
The 1802 apps will be available in the respective app stores by Sunday Feb 17th (or earlier is some countries).

The case we are trying to address here is that some customers continue using the 1711 app after the 1802 upgrade - and this will cause issues unless you update the 1711 app to the latest version.
