Overview on tools delivered with SL Toolset 1.0 SPS 22

Availability: SL Toolset 1.0 SPS 22 is available since January 15th 2018.
What’s in: compared to SPS 21, CTS Plug-In was removed
(because improvements are anyhow delivered with SAP NetWeaver SPs).

Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 SP 22

With software provisioning manager, get latest SAPinst version that enables provisioning processes for several products and releases for all supported platforms – get support of latest products, versions and platforms, including latest fixes in tool and supported processes + benefit from unified process for different product versions.

Changes with SL Toolset 1.0 SPS 22

  • New platform versions (OS/DB) enabled and platform-specific improvements
    • Support for SQL 2017 (kernel 7.21 with PL900 required), Support for Oracle 12.2, Support for DB2: Linux on Power BE (NW 7.40 or higher required)
  • Software Provisioning Manager 7.0x: Split Off ASCS Instance is released for NW 7.0x systems
  • Software Provisioning Manager 7.x: Update on the load tools: Non-Unicode is now supported and new table split tool SAPuptool has replaced R3TA
  • Better support in case of errors during CDS View creation: logfile from RUTDDLSCREATE is analyzed and user guidance is provided
  • SMDAgent can now be installed with SAPJVM8
  • Step-State-Editor now available with SL Common UI: This new feature allows to ignore certain steps during the installation process
  • Security improvements: Secure communication switched on per default for message server, Further packages are checked to contain signatures
  • Phase out:
    • No more maintenance support for SAPinst 722 and RMOS
    • Old SDT GUI will be phased out
    • End of Maintenance for 70Java Dualstack Split announced
    • Software Provisioning Manager 7.0x will no longer support SAP NW 7.0 Java in future SPs

  • Modern user interface, downtime reduction capabilities for various scenarios
  • Business Downtime reduction: buffer import of customer transport requests for target release

Standalone Task Manager for Lifecycle Management Automation 1.0 SP 01


Stand-alone task manager for lifecycle management automation is a framework to execute below automated configuration templates

  • SSL configuration templates validates the SSL configuration settings both, for ABAP and for Java environments and generates HTML reports that can be used for further analysis. It also performs SSL configuration automatically and describes required manual tasks.(SAP Note 1891360)

SPAM/SAINT provides easy access to lifecycle management processes by being part of the SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP stack and by being accessible directly via SAP GUI. This way you are able to control different kinds of implementation processes, such as installing, upgrading or updating ABAP software components. SPAM/SAINT Updates themselves can be applied to ABAP-based systems independent of underlying SAP NetWeaver component versions.

  • Add-on uninstallation supports product uninstallation, new object types and new add-ons (see SAP Note 2011192)
  • For Add-on installation and uninstallation, you can now use a stack xml-file created by Maintenance Planner

Scenario “Up-to-date Installation”

Up-To-Date Installation refers to an enhanced process for the installation of new system at any chosen stack level. The new improved process enables complete planning in Maintenance Planner, which generates a consolidated stack XML and archives, which are later consumed by Software Provisioning Manager and Software Update Manager.

      Dear customer,

      unfortunately you did not specify where you were looking for the guide. For a long time now, we have established the landing page of the SL Toolset as the central place to look for information, for example for guides. Using shows the link to the guides. Let me know if this does not work, and please specify in detail what the issue is.

      Thanks for notifying about the note. You did not mention for how long the note is not available. Usually we try to keep such note updates short, sorry.
