Robert from Austria has spent time in California as part of his SAP journey and now has a global sales role.

What has been your SAP journey so far?

I began my career with SAP in 2011 as a Diploma Student in Business Development for Mobile Solutions which led to a 3-year assignment in Presales. Thanks to a top talent fellowship, I went to California where I helped in building the first global SAP Academy for sales which shapes professional future of more than 150 SAP Academy Graduates each year.

Following this opportunity, I became a Customer Innovation Principal and Design Thinking Lead for Austria. I was later approached by SAP Austria’s management team about a move in to Sales and am now a Senior Key Account Manager for Swarovski and 7 other global SAP large enterprise customers.

What do you think the key skills people need to work in sales for SAP?

You need to have a good understanding of the big picture and able to connect the dots. Networking skills with a high level of empathy and trustworthiness.

What does your career at SAP mean to you?

Working for SAP means being successful whilst having fun and making friends.

What does success look like to you?

If our customers achieve success, then I feel I have succeeded in my role.
