Back in March I wrote this blog Leading S/4HANA UX – Adapting the Launchpad to the Business Role based on my experiences with S/4HANA customers wanting to make the most of SAP S/4HANA UX. In this blog I’ll introduce you to some how-to videos we have created to help you make those changes in the system. 

If you want to encourage user adoption of your new SAP S/4HANA solution, it pays to focus on adapting the Fiori Launchpad to your business users’ needs. For the vast majority of your users in SAP S/4HANA, the Fiori Launchpad is their first impression of S/4HANA, and the Fiori Launchpad Home Page is their starting point for accessing everything in S/4HANA.  That’s because when you deploy SAP Fiori for SAP S/4HANA, the Fiori Launchpad becomes the single entry point for all your users, whether they are entering from a web browser, a mobile device e.g. using SAP Fiori Client, or from SAP Business Client using the Launchpad connection type.

Far too often I have seen people stumble at this crucial point.  The classic mistake is to load SAP’s sample Business Role tile catalogs as-is, without considering how they will be used in practice by real business users.  It’s as if you implemented the sample security authorization roles in your SAP and said “That’s what you are getting” regardless of the real needs of the organization.

The missed opportunity here is understanding that the Fiori Launchpad is built to be flexible specially so you can adapt it to the needs of yourself or your team.

Your Options for Adapting the Fiori Launchpad 

When adapting the Launchpad for yourself, Fiori Personalization is the way to go.

When adapting the Launchpad for your team, then you need someone to act as Launchpad Content Administrator who will work with the Launchpad Designer tool, and you’ll need your Security Administrator involved as well.

TIP: These techniques will work for most SAP Fiori 2.0 Launchpads also.

NOTE: Personalization works the same in SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
