Highlight of 2018! Announced today. View it as a kind of Xmas present.
SAP Business Client 6.5, PL5 – Released end of January 2018.
Not only a patch – it’s an innovation! Log On With Chromium!
SAP Business Client development team implemented a Chromium control based on CefSharp.
Taking advantage of the same performance and HTML5 technologies available as in the Google Chrome Web browser (CEF – Open Source Version of Google Chrome)
The Beta-Test phase is over! Testing was very successful. Thanks to our customers for their valuable and positive feedback which we were able to incorporate, in most cases, in our next release at the end of January, SAP Business Client 6.5, PL 5.
One of the strongest criticisms was the cumbersome update strategy regarding CefSharp. Thankfully, that issue is now solved. The latest version comes with patches. No additional task for administrators.
Detail info on our next patch will come with the release in January. See 2455699
We wish you and your families a joyous and peaceful festive season and a happy and successful 2018!
Your SAP Business Client Development-Team and Product Management
Hey Sandra,
sound like good news!
But regarding
I thought this was a customer-only thing?! When has that changed?
best
Joachim
Hi Joachim,
no changes. Customer number was required to take part in the beta. You can have both.
Regards,
Sandra
Yet another blog bookmarked. We are upgrading SAP. I say instead of an upgrade, we are choosing a to do a new implementation of SAP. That is on the horizon.
I can't wait for that. I'm rubbing my hands together in glee. We have people with a great understanding of .NET that will love this blog. I sent them an e-mail.
Thank you for the good news!
Michelle
Happy new year SAP Business Client Development-Team and Product Management!
Thanks for this effort! Looking forward to download and use this!
The Browser Control inside SAPGUI (ie when using cl_gui_html_viewer) is also using IE embedded, any chance we see also CefSharp as an option here?
Regards,
Wolfgang
Hi Wolfgang,
currently there are no plans in that direction.
Regards,
Sandra
