Since our last service pack, our customers have provided suggestions on how to make a product they love even better. The most popular requests focus on simplifying the flavor development process, making administration easier, and enabling mobility. The main enhancements in SAP Screen Personas 3.0 SP6 address these issues. (Watch 6-minute video summary on SP6.)
The overall business value of SAP Screen Personas remains the same: simplify classic SAP ERP screens for our customers to allow them to make business decisions faster and more accurately, with fewer errors.
“SAP allows us to optimize business relationship with our partners. However, the screens can be complex and hard to learn. SAP Screen Personas allowed us to streamline key business processes such as administering contracts, maintaining master data, and tracking our business partners, giving us the ability to make key decisions more quickly.”
Angel Bush, Senior Systems Analyst, Genentech
Here are some of the feature highlights of SAP Screen Personas 3.0 SP6:
Script editor can run in a stand-alone window
In a SAP Screen Personas Practitioner Forum a few months ago, a customer requested a way to run the scripting editor in a separate window. They wanted to empower their business analysts to have a full-screen Web GUI window while building scripts with SAP Screen Personas. This feature is now available with SP06.
Administration transaction redesigned with a focus on ease of use
While SP05 focused on streamlining the ABAP side of the admin transaction, SP06 brings visible improvements to the admin transaction. A new navigation tree gives instant access to every SAP Screen Personas administrative function. Individual admin screens have been redesigned to provide a consistent user experience as well as improving usability. We have also made the access control more granular, enabling you to be very specific about what rights you assign to each role.
SAP Screen Personas is now fully supported with BDT (Business Data Toolkit). So, if you are a customer that relies on BDT screens, you can now simplify them with SAP Screen Personas. Here is what two customers said about the benefits they received by combining SAP Screen Personas with BDT:
“Location is everything in the hyper-competitive grocery business. We were able to greatly simplify the real estate contract management process, which relies on SAP’s Business Data Toolset (BDT) transactions, using SAP Screen Personas. This gives us the flexibility to integrate our employees in complex processes”
Martin Brand, Technical Consultant, Lidl
“SAP allows us to manage our global real estate portfolio. However, the screens have always been complex and hard to learn. SAP Screen Personas allowed us to streamline key business processes such as administering contracts, maintaining master data, and tracking our business partners, giving us the ability to make key decisions more quickly.”
Subbarao Narnei, SAP Functional Consultant – REFX & PM, Easa Saleh Al Gurg
Slipstream Engine reduces kernel dependencies
Over the past few years, we have heard from some customers that they had difficulty scheduling kernel updates with their basis teams when we released a bug fix that required both a client and kernel update. To reduce the dependency of SAP Screen Personas on the kernel, we have introduced a new Slipstream Engine. In addition to separating rendering from other back-end components, it introduces some new functionality to improve rendering performance. We will discuss some additional benefits of the Slipstream Engine in a future blog post. This is what SAP Chief Design Officer, Sam Yen, alluded to at the 01:56 mark in his recent video.
To provide better support to customers on SAP Screen Personas 3.0, here is our current support strategy.
- SAP Screen Personas 3.0 will be supported until at least Dec. 31, 2022. This rolling 5-year support is the same as S/4HANA. This is a minimum of five years from the release of this service pack, rounded to end of the calendar year.
- We support the current as well as the two previous Service Packs. What does this mean to you?
- SP06 will receive continuous innovation
- SP05 will get important fixes and selected down ports
- SP04 will receive emergency fixes
- SP03 and earlier will no longer be supported
Support for SAP Screen Personas 1.0 ends at the end of 2017.
Support for SAP Screen Personas 2.0 ends at the end of 2018.
We are not planning to extend these dates.
There are so many reasons to upgrade to SAP Screen Personas 3.0. Beyond the new features, building and maintaining flavors is much easier in version 3.0. If you are looking to migrate to SAP Screen Personas 3.0, we have a migration program to help you.
