What’s NOT possible with SAP BPC 11.0
SAP BPC 11.0, version for SAP BW/4HANA is yet the third BPC product on the market in addition to BPC NetWeaver(NW) and BPC Microsoft(MS). From release number 11, it’s easy to understand that BPC 11.0 on BW/4HANA is NOT a brand new product, it’s renovated from existing BPC 10.1 NW same as it’s platform-BW/4HANA which is renovated from NW/BW with simplification and improvements.
In BPC 11.0 what’s new, we already learned the what we can do in BPC 11.0, in this blog I will talk a bit about what is NOT possible with BPC 11.0.
Financial Information Management(FIM)
FIM is a data integration tool as part of SAP Enterprise Performance Management(EPM) solution portfolio. It’s used to sync master data and transaction data between EPM products, i.e. between BPC(both BPC MS and BPC NW) and BFC(SAP Business Financial Consolidation) for customers who are running planning in BPC(standard model) and consolidation in BFC.
The integration with FIM is now NOT possible with BPC 11.0 BW/4HANA. We may know that BW/4HANA is the next generation data warehouse solution of SAP with enhanced data integration/collection capability built in, we recommend to use BW and HANA data integration( especially for BFC on HANA) to communicate data between BPC and other EPM solutions.
BPC embedded web reporting and planning
For embedded model of BPC 11.0, web reporting and planning capability is not available, also you won’t have ‘Library’ from user menu with embedded model. Analysis plug-in of Analysis for Office is THE reporting and planning client for the moment.
For web based reporting and planning business scenario, we are recommending to use Design studio or Designer of Lumira 2.0.
SAP Analytics Cloud(SAC) can also be used as reporting/analysis extension of BPC embedded via live data connection or data acquisition connection to BW/4HANA. In addition, we are also looking into a deeper integration between SAC and BPC embedded for both reporting and planning as a strong offering for hybrid deployment option in the future.
BPC embedded web query designer
You may also be aware that we do have web based BW query designer been released with a later SP of BPC 10.1 NW, which allows end user to create his own light weighted BW query( can be input ready as well) in BPC web client. This function is also NOT offered with BPC 11.0 at the moment.
its a good read and thanks for mentioning What is NOT possible .Are we planning to have the web query feature in later versions .
Thanks
Rashmi.
Hi, in this version the EPM works or just I have to use the Microsoft Analysis office client?
For other question the standard model works or just embedded?
Hi Alan,
Both BPC standard and embedded are well supported with BPC 11.0.
For BPC standard, you should use EPM plug-in coming with the installation of Analysis for office.
