Extensibility highlights of SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1711
Considering the big picture of extensibility in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud we consider two concepts:
- in-app extensibility and
- side-by-side extensibility
In-app extensibility use applications on SAP S4HANA Cloud to adapt your business according to your needs. With this you can adapt UIs, Forms, Reports, define interfaces but also create your own business logic, e.g. BADIs or even create your own custom business objects.
Side-by-side extensibility use the development capabilities of the SAP Cloud Platform. With this you can create completely new applications to extend for example your reach to extend your scope.
A flexible extensibility in the cloud needs easy to use tools and a comfortable and tightly integrated development platform without interfering the central core. So the tight integration is an important factor to bring both extension concepts together to get a perfect customer extension.
With the new Release of SAP S/4HANA 1711 we improve the tight integration between SAP S4/HANA Cloud and SAP Cloud Platform tremendously.
Main innovations of integration I highlighted in my video:
- Call web service on the SAP Cloud Platform
- Fiori Launchpad Integration: first step to get a seamless User Interface experience
- CDS View replication scenarios are available to distribute data from SAP S/4HANA to SAP Cloud Platform
Finally on SAP S/4HANA Cloud the SAP S/4HANA Cloud SDK supports your developers to easily create SAP S/4HANA extensions in high quality.

Hello Martin,
We are planning two implementations on S4 Hana Cloud Public and we are trying to find out a list of available in_app extensions. Is there any list available in a SAP Note like we have for BAPIs o IDOCs?
Thanks in advance,
David R.
Hi David,
Have you considered using the Extensibility Cockpit?
Regards
Phillip
Hi Philip,
I'm in process to get my hands-on a S4HCP tenant to do some R&D. I'll try the app you mention for sure.
Thanks,
David R.
Hi David,
as Phillip said, you will get this info in the Extensibility cockpit. Additionally you get all whitelisted CDS views in the View browser. We have currently > 500 released so this is hard to manage in a SAP note.
When you need further help, just let me know.
Best regards,
Martin
