In this blog, we'll talk about the following enhancements to
SAP Replication Server version 16.0 SP03 PL02:
- A new parameter and functionality for the alter connection command
- A new parameter value and functionality for the configure replication server command
For details on these enhancements, continue reading.
New parameter and functionality for the alter connection command
This enhancement improves the
alter connection command.
The command gets a new database connection parameter: dsi_validate_login. When LDAP is enabled, this parameter triggers the creation of an internal login with a create login mapping in SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (SAP ASE).
By default, this parameter is turned
off. When turned
on, it enables the creation of the original DDL user in SAP ASE (if it doesn't already exist), which is authenticated by the LDAP.
For details, see the description for the parameter dsi_validate_login under SAP Replication Server Reference Manual > SAP Replication Server Commands > alter connection > Parameters Affecting Database Connections.
New parameter and functionality for the configure replication server command
Next, the
configure replication server command gets an enhancement to its functionality in the form of a new value being added to the password parameter
initial_password_expiration.
The new value, –1 (minus 1), indicates that the initial password set by the administrator will expire immediately.
Previously, you could assign only the following value to the initial_password_expiration parameter:
- 0: This is also the default value for the parameter. It tells the command that the initial password never expires. The range of this parameter value is 0 to 32,767 days.
But now, you can also assign the following value to it:
- –1: Tells the command that the initial password must expire immediately. This password is set by the administrator while creating a new user, or resetting the user password.
For details, see the description for the parameter
initial_password_expiration under
SAP Replication Server Reference Manual > SAP Replication Server Commands > configure replication server > Password Parameters.
