This blog walks you through the steps required to access a 30-day trial version of SAP Predictive Analytics.

Introduction

The trial system landscape is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and is available through the SAP Cloud Appliance Library (SAP CAL).

You need to complete three steps to access the trial version:

  • If you do not already have one, you need to create a AWS account

  • If you do not already have one, you need to create a SAP CAL account.

  • You need to create a personal system landscape (instance) in SAP CAL.

There is a hosting cost associated with the use of AWS:

  • this cost varies based on the size of the system landscape, and the instance's activity.

  • If you are not using your instance, it is possible to suspend it to reduce your costs. You can activate and suspend the instance at any time.

  • When you finished using your instance, you can terminate it. This deletes your instance, and no further costs are charged.

Creating your AWS Account

This video explains how to create a AWS account.

Follow these steps:

  • Go to the AWS home page: http://aws.amazon.com.

  • Choose My Account/ Console -> Security Credentials.

  • Go to Access keys (access key ID and secret access key) and choose Create New Access Key. You are prompted to download your access key file with your security and secret access key. Note that you should store your keys locally. These keys will be later on in SAP CAL configuration.

  • As an alternative, if you want to allow other users to access resources in your account, use the Identity and Access Management (IAM) console to create credentials and assign permissions for each user.

Creating your SAP CAL User Account

This video explains how to create a CAL account.

Follow these steps:

  • Go to https://cal.sap.com

  • Register yourself (you can logon using the single sign-on mechanism if you are a SAP employee).

  • You will receive an email to activate your account.

That's all.

Once you are logged, go to the Solutions tab to see all solutions available.

The URL of the solution to access for SAP Predictive Analytics - Professional Edition is provided in the mail that you received when you  registered.
