SAP Innovation Discovery
Why
Following a similar approach to the experience provided by Solution Explorer, the idea on SAP Innovation Discovery is nothing different from what its name suggested: find innovation and new features in the vast SAP Product Portfolio in a much more efficient way. SAP Innovation Discovery organize and simplifies the search for new functionalities SAP delivers on Enhancement Packages, Support Packages, Add-Ons, Improvement Notes and others.
After entering the tool, exploration can be done by customizing searches per specific business areas, navigating by industries, Lines of Business or Technology. A “Hot Topics” area on the initial screen shows different tiles suggesting Innovations related to S/4HANA, User Experience, Digital Transformation. You can add tiles with your system-specific insights (S-user logged must have the required authorization for the systems and your organization authorize SAP to use Early Watch Alert (EWA) data).
You can navigate through a huge number of innovation and check detailed information for each like the description of Business Context, key benefits, product features (i.e. videos, screenshot), create a favorites list and check technical requirements.
Selecting Innovations for download allows you to generate a comprehensive spreadsheet that organizes all the relevant innovations details like:
- Description
- Benefits
- Software Product & Version
- Support Package Stack
- Software Component Version
- Improvement Note
- Business Function
So before deciding for a custom development, make sure you have the required solution features verified in SAP Innovation Discovery, it might help you to accelerate adoption and generate tangible value for the business
How
The link to the tool can be found here. A S-user is required to access the tool. System-specific insights requires Solution Manager 7.1, SAP EarlyWatch Alert data must be sent to SAP and the user must have read and write authorization for specific system(s).
When
Useful tool for a regular check of available and upcoming innovations. Whenever a new business requirement is raised, SAP Innovation Discovery is a great source of information to help you optimize investments by maximizing the use of standard capabilities and prevent unnecessary solution extensions.
