SAP CodeJam – September 2017 Updates

SAP CodeJam had a great summer season and the start of the fall season is no less. This month we hosted 4 events in 4 different countries in 2 different continents and making about 100 developer connections. These events have all been possible because of developers like you, so thank you!

Where Have we Been?

What’s New: ABAP

ABAP 7.52 was successfully shipped on September 11th. ABAP 7.52 is the foundation for SAP S/4HANA 1709 which represents the basis for the SAP Fiori Front-end Server and is shipped as standalone development and runtime environment for SAP Business Suite and SAP NetWeaver customers, to enable a smooth technological transition from the classical world to the new SAP S/4HANA world.

What does this mean for SAP CodeJams?

Ingo Braeuninger, our ABAP expert says, “Well, I think this is just the next evolution step of CodeJam. The content is more or less the same. What is new is that we will create an application with transactional behavior.”

While attending an ABAP CodeJam, a participant can expect the following:

  • Get their hands on the latest ABAP features
  • Build a transactional app with draft and search capabilities
  • Work with core data services (CDS) and business object processing framework (BOPF), and expose the data using an OData service
  • Use the CDS-based data model with UI annotations to generate an app using SAP Fiori elements

For latest updates on ABAP, please visit the SAP Developer Center.

Not sure what SAP CodeJam is?

SAP CodeJam is a 5 to 6 hours event where a small group of developers get together for an afternoon of networking, learning, and coding in an ultra-casual environment all for free. Attendees get a chance to share and expand their knowledge and collaboratively develop with SAP technologies, platforms and tools under the watchful guidance of an expert. The events are developer community focused and supported by SAP, exploring technologies available through the SAP Developer Center.
