Hi all, I had gone through some OpenSAP Course of semantic notation and want to share some key points related to it, It’s a good and innovative idea that as we have signs and notation in other industry like music, architecture and traffic signals, we should also have some common notations for Business too. I believe that it will certainly pace up business all over the world like never before. IBCS is doing a great work to rethink in these areas, so first, of all, Let me tell you what is semantic notation.

It is an initiative to bring down all business terminology in common notation form so that anyone can understand the business terms in one go, without considering into account of Technology, Company and all other stuff.

Let me explain you with an example, consider that I have three types of table named as old, processing and forecast table i.e. table which contains historical, operational and table which is going to be release i.e. forecast table, things should be very simple if we use notation 1 for historical table, notation 2 for process table and notation 3 for forecast table, or something like this. This is just an example, similarly we can assign such signs or signature to other business terms or business objects like Attributes, Measures, Dimensions etc. if interested in giving your inputs, join IBCS or SAP

Acceptance is the only thing which is pulling it away from complete implementation, it’s a very new concept in BI fields and hope it’s the next big thing in BI world.

A Google search for Dashboard, pie charts, graph will give you a variety of fancy design in different format but wouldn’t it be great if I receive these things which would be accepted worldwide, it reduces complexity not only for you but for everyone and here in my mind tagline of SAP comes “Run Simple.”

Musicians are lucky that they are communicating with each other in a common language worldwide since 1862, we are a bit late but its time to dive in this area so that any business professionals can understand each other language.

That its from my side, I hope you get some overview and idea about semantic notation and found it interesting and helpful!!!
