Hello Friends,

I want to discuss issue related to BW portal wherein the LOV does not show all the intended values. We need to follow workaround as below after which we will be able to see all the values in LOV.

Display issue with BW Portal

Key words :
BW Portal, Bex Analyzer, WEBI, LOV

Issue:

Sometimes there is an issue with BW Portal display of a Report, wherein All the values related to a characteristic do not appear in the selection screen’s drop down box however the values looks fine when accessing the report with Bex Analyzer and/or Webi tool.

Less values than actual were displayed in the drop down box.

Resolution:

This issue could get resolved by changing provider specific properties of infoobject in multi provider.

With Provider-Specific Characteristics in the context menu one can assign the Infoobjects specific characteristics that are only valid in the currently processing Infoprovider.

The majority of these settings correspond to the settings that could be made globally for an Infoobject. For characteristics, these are Display, Text Type, Selection and Filter Value Selection upon Query Execution. Refer the corresponding sections under Tab Page: Business Explorer.

By setting the 'Query Execution Filter Val. Selection' property in Bex, we can control the value list, there are options as below:

  1. 'Only posted value for navigation', only the data posted to info provider (upon which the query is created) is listed.

  2. 'Values in master data table', all the data in the master data table is listed.

But for queries based on cube or multi-cube, when we select 'values in master data table' in query definition, still only the posted values are displayed,  so to overcome this issue we could set “'Query Execution Filter Val. Selection ” in Multi provider which will overwrite the query setting in this case and show all the values of master data.

Resolution Step:

Right Click on Multi provider-> go to change-> Right click on the characteristic (with which the issue is occurring)->Click on provider specific properties of the info object-> set Query Exec.FilterVal from blank to “M Values in Master Data Table”.

Benefits:

  • Error Free Report which displays the correct no. of values

  • It is a recurring benefit as to whenever the report gets executed, it shows the correct result.

  • It benefits the customer with the correct data.
