With all the ongoing changes in the business system environments of our customers, and SAP’s aspiration to become THE cloud company, it is good to know that SAP is constantly developing enhancements for our on-premise products as well. We in the SAP product management team hear questions about the future of the on-premise applications on a regular basis. And YES: On-premise products such as SAP Single Sign-On and SAP Identity Management are here to stay. In fact, these products will help our customers connect their on-premise environment to “the new world”, their cloud products. We usually talk about hybrid environments when cloud services are integrated with on-premise applications. Most of our customers want to use cloud services, but also want to keep some of their tried-and-tested on-premise products.

When it comes to the management of user identities and authorizations across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments, SAP offers the following solutions: SAP Single Sign-On, SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication, SAP Identity Management, and SAP Cloud Platform Identity Provisioning. Read the recent SAPInsider article to learn about each of these tools and when to use which (https://www.sap.com/documents/2017/04/9259bce2-b67c-0010-82c7-eda71af511fa.html).

As many of you already know, we also released a new service pack for SAP Identity Management 8.0 in the beginning of July 2017. It is called “SP05” and you can find the release notes when you follow this link: https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/0002486580

In addition, we also published a lot of interesting new documentation in Q2/2017: See here for a list of the latest versions of the SAP IDM documentation:

You might find the latest SAP Identity Management Security Guide especially interesting; you can also find this on the general list for all SAP security guides (http://service.sap.com/securityguides).
