In previous blogs, I explained that when converting your Business Suite systems onto S/4HANA, you are faced with the question How to decide between a Greenfield and Brownfield S/4HANA transition. However, there is a middle ground between those two options where you keep your good processes and migrate only good data, potentially from more than one system:

For this you perform a Shell Creation for SAP ERP, convert this shell to S/4HANA and then migrate your data into it. As a prerequisite, you need the SAP Landscape Transformation that consists of two Add-ons:

  • DMIS 2011_1_731

  • SHC_CONT 2011_1_700

I plan these with Maintenance Planner:

And install them with SUM, because I like the extra checks and comfort, but it could be done of course with transaction SAINT as well:

Once the Add-ons got successfully installed, I generate the Profile for role SAP_IUUC_REPL_ADMIN:

And assign it to my User:

Next, in transaction SM30 and table CNV_SEC_PARAMS, I configure transaction LTS not to use the SAP NetWeaver Business Client:

Then I check my LTS configuration with transaction LTS_CFGCHK for NetWeaver Business Client 4.0:

There are a few NetWeaver Business Client related settings missing, but since I am not using this, more importantly, ICF nodes must be activated. I do this with transaction LTS_ACT_SICF:

Two Web Service Activations fail, but I deal with those later. Now I can launch the LT Work Center with transaction LTS:

From here I got many options including the Shell Creation for SAP ERP that I wanted to enable in the first place.
